Happy 2026

A new year is upon us! I made a couple of resolutions. I resolved to “go to the gym”, as well as renewing my commitment to interact with city government as much as I can.

Last year I started going to City Council meetings, community board meetings, and MTA board meetings. Every time I went, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, met cool new people who are as obsessed with our city as I am, and learned a lot about the actual mechanics of how our city functions. The one friction point is how hard it is to figure out what meetings are happening and when. There is certainly no central website for all New York City meetings. Most organizations do not keep a calendar and if they do it’s often buried. In light of this new resolution to go to even more meetings and the difficulties that I faced when trying to find them, I decided to make an app.

I whipped it up yesterday (thanks Claude), so it’s quite bare bones, but it works. It currently collects all of the events for all City Council meetings, a few City agencies (I will be adding more), the MTA, and Community Boards.

All you have to do is click on the meetings you want, the gremlins will make you a calendar link, and you can add it to your calendar app of choice! The link stays up to date and refreshes at the start of every week, bringing all of the meetings you want straight to your calendar without you having to think about it.

I hope this is useful to people, I would love to keep on expanding its offerings so please reach out if there are any organizations that you would like to see represented and I will add them as quickly as possible.
